Since I was 12 years old and read a few paragraphs of Silent Spring and a book about disappearing wolves I've been concerned about the environment. This is Tim DeChristopher, famous for his 2008 protest of the auctioning of oil and gas leases of public land in Utah's redneck country by bidding on them. He served 21 months in prison. The US Department of the Interior canceled many of the leases shortly after the auction and a court injunction.

I have been following the human rights/political situation in Haiti since the coup of 2004. This led me to study similar situations in other countries. This piece is about the 2004 US backed coup of Jean Bertrand Aristide. Before the actual coup "rebels" attacked a political opponent and when they didn't find him home they massacred family and friends. Later these same rebels were showcased on CNN describing their victory for "democracy."
