Mill Valley Fall Arts Festival diehards are packing up to go home. Time to read.

No Sidewalk sale today. Perhaps I'll get cozy and read up on the next Haitian voodou veve I'll draw. Hot chocolate anyone?
An excellent book about Haitian voodou is The Sacred Art of Haitian Voodou, based on an incredibly beautiful traveling exhibit of the same name.

"Anyone who saw the traveling exhibition “Sacred Arts of Haitian Vodou,” organized by the Fowler Museum of Cultural History at the University of California, Los Angeles, in 1995, knows how visually potent this art can be."
-"Out of Ruin, Haiti's Visionaries" by Holland Cotter, March 13, 2010.

Just found the Milo Rigaud "Veve" book. Looks good. Can't wait to read it.

    Notes.

The Haiti Emergency Relief Fund (HERF) based in Oakland, California  places funds directly into the hands of the people in Haiti who need it most. This is Haitian-directed aid, an important distinction. HERF acts immediately to assist Haitians with the cholera epidemic, health care, education, human rights, women's organizing, local food production and more.
